I ‘m Joan, a “mid-century modern” woman as well as a wife, mother, former college professor, friend, sister, reader, sewer, furniture fixer-upper, wannabee gourmet cook, dog owner, and now…a blogger. I love my patient husband of more than 25 years and my amazingly super talented daughter. I enjoy my Labradoodle, Chester but it can be difficult at those times when he has eaten something expensive or irreplaceable. Don’t get me started on that topic! Actually Chester and his predecessor, Cody deserve an entire post!
I was raised on a farm in south-western Ontario, Canada and eventually moved to Toronto where I now reside.
Maybe because of my rural upbringing or out of necessity, I’ve always been a handy DIYer. I’ve been sewing since high school. Several years ago I took wood working at night school and made some pretty cool things until my daughter was born. I
love enjoy am always tackling jobs around the house thus earning me the moniker “The Handy Wife“.
I am most definitely a life long learner. Beyond the Master’s degree I finished a few years ago, I’m always taking on projects and developing new skills. Everything from PhotoShop to furniture painting to upholstery to gourmet cooking. Basically, I keep very busy.
I have started this blog to share my projects and keep me motivated. I hope you will follow me on my continuing journey.
